Expedition! for 5th Grade

Expedition! is a 4-5 day curriculum-based program that immerses students in the Greater Yellowstone Geo-ecosystem. Depending upon the availability of space, fifth grades are either participating in Expedition Yellowstone in Yellowstone National Park or in the Youth Field Education Program at the Teton Science School.

Our students are growing up in the incredible Greater Yellowstone Geo-ecosystem and will, over time, become its stewards. The objective of this program is to create the next generation of conservationists. By spending a week immersed in an outdoor classroom, fifth grade students learn about and experience the wide variety of wildlife, the unique geologic features of the region, and, ultimately, themselves. Students gain deep knowledge and understanding of the interrelationships between the environment, wildlife and humans. The long term impact is a conservation ethic amongst our students as they are our future leaders and decision makers.

TVEF is proud to have been a supporter of this program for the past seven years. Many students have called it a “life-changing experience.” With four of five classrooms participating, over 120 students have this experience every year.
