What is the Teton Valley Education Foundation?
Created in 2005, the Teton Valley Education Foundation is a community-based, non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation led by a board of directors representing business, education, and the community. We are dedicated to supporting and enhancing the educational opportunities for students of Teton County School District #401 and to working with the public schools to provide students with the tools necessary to compete in today's world.

What Does the Foundation Do?
Through fundraising, the Foundation:

  • Provides a way for private citizens to actively support our schools through a non-profit organization;
  • Promotes and supports the educational needs of students, teachers, and the community;
  • Provides quality programs that may not be funded through other avenues;
  • Promotes positive, well-equipped learning environments; and
  • In other words, the Foundation works to help cover what state and federal funding are unable to provide.

Since its inception, the Foundation has raised over $100,000 for our public schools. This money has gone towards purchasing the following necessities:

  • Classroom libraries for the elementary schools.
  • New computer labs for TES, VES, and TMS.
  • New band instruments at THS.
  • Lighting for the new athletic field.
  • Bringing Utah Shakespearean Festival's Shakespeare-in-the-Schools performances to THS.

While we've accomplished a lot in our relatively short existence, there is still more to do. To learn additional information about volunteer opportunities or to make a donation, please contact the Foundation via e-mail at info@tetoneducation.com.

Why Do We Need This Foundation Now?
With the 2006 state legislature's repeal of property tax support for public schools in Idaho, school districts across the state are seeing a decrease in state funding, while requirements in standards continue to increase. Teton County School District, like school districts across the state, are looking for ways to raise funds in order to provide exceptional educational opportunities for their students. This Foundation is one way to achieve this.

How Can You Help Make Education Better in Teton Valley?
If you would like to help the Teton Valley Education Foundation make a difference in the lives of students, teachers, and the community, you can do so in any of three ways:

  • Volunteer with the Foundation and/or at the schools.
  • Donate to the Foundation. Donations can be either general donations or you can specify where you would like the funds to go (i.e., specific school, classroom, program, or activities)
  • Spread the word about the Foundation and the work we are trying to do in the valley by telling friends and neighbors about our organization and forwarding a link to this site.
